THE STATION

"THE STATION" is on a center street of Queenstown, and is a base of various trekking of the fjord land national park area. It leaves here, nature is enjoyed, and it returns here at the end. The trekking participant participates in the briefing executed by 2F of "THE STATION" on the day before it starts, and various preparation is concluded. It usually explains the briefing to a general participant in English. Then, all participants from each country match its face. A Japanese briefing was prepared from PM 4:00 we for Japanese tour participants.

As for the briefing of one hour, VTR appreciation, question and answer, backpack, and rainwear lending, a waterproof map, big plastic bags, and sheets for going to bed are provided. The plastic bag puts a thing such as change of clothes in this that shall not be wet, and is directed to put it in the backpack. This is the most important preparation to enjoy trekking in the frequent rain course. And, it concentrates on PR of the trekking goods sold by 1F. Especially, all members seem to have bought the ointment of the Sandfly taking off. However, I did not have the chance to use. And, it became the souvenir of NZ.

In this briefing, importance next will be an action schedule from tomorrow. The detailed schedule was printed, and it was distributed to participant's seat. However, most people did not notice, and retired because there was no essential explanation. It would notice the next day, the copy was gotten, and it survived. I did not think that there was a problem if this schedule table existed even if the explanation of English was not understood.

It comments to the following about my preparation situation etc.

Luggage of 5 days

In the briefing, it is called OK because all guided tours of five days are now in the lodge if only little change of clothes and the cash card are taken.

I decided to show in this photograph, and to leave with little luggage. The water of one drop is also unnecessary. Local water are all mineral waters of nature.

Luggage: Raincoat/T-shirt for change of clothes/Undergarment for change of clothes/Socks/One dishabille set/Empty PET bottle/Washing tool/ Gloves/LED lamp/Digital camera & preliminary battery/Slippers/Pochette for valuables/Sand fly mothball/Sheet and waterproof map provided in briefing/Backpack, These all up weights are about 6kg. It became about 7kg with the sandwich made in this in the lodge including water 500cc of the fruit and water service. It was possible to walk lightly and easily for me.

Everything is put in the plastic bag, and a thing that shall not be wet is put in packing. As for me, if the wind did not blow, rain will not put on the raincoat, make the umbrella done, and put the umbrella in backing. This was useful for the fourth day. They were these luggage, there was not a big problem, and either it was able to enjoy the trekking of five days.

However, there was one problem. Because it has prepared the towel in each lodge in the briefing, it is said it is unnecessary. Then, 13 Japanese were actually only a big bath towel and did the inconvenience without the towel though went out. Only this time, was the preparation forgotten? Or, does the towel mean only a big bath towel?

Schedule table
I show a Japanese schedule table of Milford Track. A detailed schedule table of five days can be confirmed by clicking.

40 capacity and 4 guide people will behave according to this schedule table. However, it is an one's own pace and OK to walk in Track.

Lodge staying: Because it is four person room, it seems that it doesn't oversleep. However, the Japanese of this room deteriorated the physical condition at the first day. And, he became a stop hotel standby the traverse during the second day. I became one person from the 2nd day to the 4th day in four person room. The lodge doesn't have the wake-up call. When going to bed with PM 10:00, turning off turned off the switch of the lamp. Therefore, it overslept darkly as many as two times though the morning came. When called in the tour guide, all members also ended breakfast, and the departure was being prepared.
