Mackinnon Monument

It rained in the morning of Day3. As for the Mackinnon pass excess of rain, the difficulty is expected though it determined. All members leave in the dark fast by the waterproof equipment. I decided to prevent wind and rain putting on borrowed rainwear on the waxed jacket. We left Pompolona Lodge of 7:45 rain.

We trace the source of the Clinton river. An innumerable waterfall in which it went directly to Mackinnon pass (1146m) excess and the Arthur valley was looked up at, it came down along the swift current, and it aimed at Quintin Lodge.

Picture explanation: "Mackinnon Monument" that encountered extreme wind and rain on that day. This is a valuable picture that Doctor Yashu Chang of the accompaniment has sent from Sydney after it returns home. Thank you for Doctor Yashu.

Quintin Lodge (L)
We left for 7:45. And, it aimed at the Mackinnon Pass of difference of elevation 500m.

Morning haze of rain (R)
A gradual climb continues first.

For the Source
And, the shrouded gas. It climbs it while seeing an innumerable waterfall that flows in the rock wall right and left.

The all were Sources of the Clinton river.

Strong Japanese woman (L)
It is Mintaro Hut soon !

Mintaro Hut (R)
It arrived at here without getting wet inside because the wind was weak.

Mintaro Hut (L)
A left hut is staying & rest room of an individual walk ?

Solar Battery & Wireless Antenna (R)
Because VHF did not reach the other side of the pass, it seemed that the Ionosphere Reflection wave of 7Mhz Band was used.

Mackinnon Monument (L)
Neil of the guide stands by in severe wind and rain, and it supports it. The lens of my camera got wet, and the photograph thereafter became white. The one with a red under is my backpack.

Mackinnon Pass Hut (R)
All members seemed to get wet when finally reaching it at last and to have gotten wet T-shirt. I changed T-shirt and socks. It takes considerable time. And, it ate the sandwich with warm tea, and it left early. A severe gas sprays it. It carefully looked for Track while bending though it lost sight of the course momentarily.

Raid on waterfall (L)
The waterfall makes the way dangerous. It seemed to be considerably dangerous.
Support of guide (R)
In addition, it had become more violent when descending. The woman who left previously is worried. Neil of the guide appears there, and it is said that I will support it here thereafter. It is their consideration to security that knows the course and carries it out.

Source of Arthur valley
All of rain become waterfalls, and become swift currents in the Arthur valley.

Waterfall or River?
The swift current like the waterfall made the earth tremor in the source region in the Arthur valley.

Quintin Lodge
I felt relieved because I saw this sign. It across the river, and it about 3:15 arrived.

It aimed at the Sutherland waterfall after the check-in was immediately done, packing was put on the room, tea was drunk, and it ate the banana.

To Sutherland Falls
The direction of this sign in front of the lodge is a Sutherland waterfall.
The time required is one hour and 30 minutes in the round trip. It is a jungle route of the super-frequent rain zone.

As for Track, it turned into the river, and Ferns, Mosses, and the tree were dense. To stray off into the fantasy land, it seemed a way there.

Sutherland Falls
The basin of a waterfall in this other side is an Arthur river. Taking a picture there was impossible in the state of the storm. The upstream in this waterfall was Lake Quill, and here was a source of the Arthur river.

The head of this dynamic waterfall is 540m, and it is said the fifth in the world.

Dinner

It is dinner from seven o'clock.
The super-guide serves at table, performs the clown post, and serves to the participant.

All members are promised.
After the briefing before the dinner, I promised with all participants.
It was enjoyed with you when I returned home safely, and was spoken to edit this wonderful travel, and to open it to the public all over the world with my Website in English, and promised. The time limit was made the end on April, 2006.
It was applause. The business card was exchanged, the address was taught, and it enjoyed the international amity.

It was able to enjoy favor and Day 3 of rain. This is a favor of devoted service to guides. Thank you.
